As the title suggests, my blog isn’t just about saving money – I also want to share how to (legally) make an extra bit of cash. It involves very little effort, so why not do it!?
What I’m blogging about today is a site called YouGov. It’s basically a survey site – you sign up, fill in your details and wait to be notified about surveys. For every one you fill in, you get points. When you collect 5,000 points you can claim £50, which will wing it’s way right into your bank account. Alternatively, you can use your points to ‘buy’ entries into their prize draws where you can win either cash or more points. I’m personally saving for the £50, but I’ve heard a number of success stories about people winning hundreds or even thousands of pounds in the draws.
The one drawback of this survey site is that it does take some time for the points to add up- but good things come to those who wait!
You might be thinking that this sounds like a pretty good deal, but maybe you’re feeling a bit skeptical about what happens with the information you give them. Well, fear not! YouGov conduct surveys for many organisations within political, cultural and commercial industries and the results of the research is used to build a better picture of what the nation thinks. YouGov publish reports and their findings even get used in the press. I think it’s pretty cool that your opinions are really being heard… And being rewarded for it too!
