Collection Eyes Uncovered Review

Although I’d say I’m a novice when it comes to applying make-up, I love searching for new products to try out.

I recently popped into Superdrug and spotted in the reduced section a Eyes Uncovered eyeshadow palette by Collection in the colour Nude Bronze. It was only £1 because it was missing the brush and and one of the shadows was a bit damaged. I couldn’t resist picking it up at that price, especially as I didn’t know if I’d like it yet.

Lately I’ve been into bronze and metallic shades – they seem to add an extra dimension to my ‘everyday’ look, compared to the matte shades I normally use. I also find that metallic shades are really great for dramatic evening looks!

From darkest to lightest: Nutty, Ember, Golden Brown, Ochre, Mink and Ivory

The Eyes Uncovered palette at full price is £3.99, which I think is really reasonable. It also comes in 6 different colourways which include nudes, purples and greys. Each palette contains six different shadows, all of which co-ordinate with each other.

That’s the basic information about the product, but the important question: Is it any good?

I own a variety of high-end and budget brands of make-up, and Collection is a firm favorite of mine so I was hopeful that it would work well.

I used Ochre as a base colour and added a light amount Ember to the outer half of my eyelids. I finished it off by adding a teeny amount of Nutty to the outer corners and crease. I used Ivory to highlight my brow bone too! They all blended perfectly and created a great day-time look. If I was going out in the evening, I wouldn’t go quite so gently with my make-up brush to achieve a more dramatic look.

The shadows had a little bit of fallout, but nothing more that I expected and the colour lasted all day without the need for a touch up!

I think this palette is good enough to rival some of the more expensive ones around – I’m definitely going to be buying this again!
