The Good Cook Shop Closing Down Sale!

If anybody from the Portsmouth area loves their kitchen bits-and-bobs then you might want to stop by The Good Cook Shop in Marmion Road in Southsea.

The Good Cook Shop – a Southsea staple – is unfortunately closing its doors in just two days on Saturday the 9th of July. I’m very sad to see this lovely little shop go, but the bargain hunter in me just had to make the most of the opportunity!

The store is selling off stock all at a discount – ex hire/ex display and seconds are being sold at crazy prices.

My M&S Sale Top Picks

It seems Marks and Spencer have lots of mini sales and they’re at it once again! They’re currently offering 50% off on selected Womens, Mens, Childrens and Homeware items and the selection this time around is pretty great!

Here’s what I’m loving from their sale, and hoping to buy come payday if they’re still in stock!

The Denim Playsuit

Denim Playsuit

This playsuit will be perfect for the warmer months, worn over a t-shirt or blouse. It was £39.50, reduced to £19.75.

Amefa Cutlery 85% Off!

If you’ve been following my blog then you’ll know that I’m super organised when it comes to buying presents and I do so in advance via the sales and clearance sections. I’ll make a list of things that I hope to pick up so that I don’t stray too far from my budget. One of the things I really wanted to get both my Mum and Dad was a nice cutlery set for each of their homes. When I was shopping in the Christmas sales for this years gifts, I didn’t come across any so I bought other things instead. Strangely though, I was drawn to an Amefa cutlery set which was £50. Although it was full price when I first saw it, I had a hunch that I should keep an eye on it. Sometimes when I pop into Tesco I’d go down that aisle… Just to check if the price changed. Since January they’ve been reduced on and off by 50% on a special promotion, but seeing as I’m already set for gifts for my parents this year, I wasn’t drawn in by the discount.

M&S Sale Buys

I’m fairly new to shopping in Marks and Spencer – it wasn’t until last year when I got a few great reduced bits that I was hooked on popping in every time I passed by.

I don’t know how usual this is, but my local M&S seems to constantly have a sale or a final clearance section. I’ve gotten so many nice bits at such great prices. Today was another lucky day for me!

Post-Easter Bargains!

Easter is yet another holiday/celebration where you are guaranteed some good discounts on themed goodies once it’s over and done with! I was working the day after Easter and because the shops had shorter opening hours, I couldn’t see what was reduced to clear. I heard that people got some great stuff though.

Today I was off work, but short of time so I didn’t pop to all of the places that had cute Easter decorations that I wanted – I went with Tesco as that’s where I did my food shop. There was a surprising amount of Easter eggs left, but not so many of the smaller treats. Unfortunately for me there were hardly any decorations on offer, which I was kind of dissapointed about.

It was pretty busy in the store today and the Easter clearance section was just cer-razy! Of course, I love a bargain but I don’t act like my life depends getting one! Some people were pushing others out of the way over a 75p chocolate egg! I took a step back to watch the madness unfold and when I got a chance, picked up a few bits.

Coast Sale Picks

I’m a massive fan of Coast, but I often find that I buy most of my dresses and accessories in their sale or outlet shop. Recently I went into one of their regular stores and spotted a beautiful spotty dress – it would be perfect for a special occasion I have coming up! Beside it was a fun fascinator, and together they looked perfect. Unfortunately for me they were both full-price and at the time I just couldn’t afford it.

Coast have recently launched their latest sale, but nothing really jumped out at me – maybe that’s a good thing for my bank balance! A few days later however, I got an email to say that more lines were added. I had a funny feeling that ‘my’ spotty dress was going to be reduced. And you know what? It was! I was thrilled, especially because it was over 50% off the normal price. Because of that saving I also added the fascinator to my online bag – that was in the sale too!

Hotel Chocolat Discount Tip!

I recently went on a really fun shopping trip to West Quay in Southampton – there are so many shops and I rarely get the chance to go, so I was excited at the possible bargains I’d discover!

My friend Hollie was really keen to take me into Hotel Chocolat – she’s a big fan but I’ve never tried their products. It’s more because I know I’ll love them and end up buying lots of expensive (but tasty) treats… My budget wouldn’t allow for that because I can never just have one!

When we got into the store we were greeted by a lovely lady and she had an even lovelier tray of salted caramel bunnies. It would have been so rude not to try a free sample and it was possibly the most delicious thing I’ve eaten… Seriously! So, it seems I was already hooked but I really couldn’t justify stocking up as I’ve got lots of other things to buy that I actually need this month.

Amazing Savings On Candles At Tesco!

I took a trip to Tesco last Sunday in the hope of getting some yellow-sticker bargains, but unfortunately I was too late. Almost every last thing had gone apart from some dodgy looking boiled eggs bought over from the salad bar…

Not wanting to waste my journey, I decided to try out the Scan As You Shop scanners. I always see people using them but I’ve never felt that they would benefit me. But oh, how wrong I was!

I’ve heard of people using the scanners to find items that have been further reduced, but not labelled so. I spent some time going around the home-ware section, scanning items that were already on sale and other things that took my fancy.

Super Boots Clearance Surprise!

Every now and again my local Boots store sets up a clearance section for all the things they need to shift to make room for new stock. I’ve never really been that tempted by what they have on offer – it’s normally hair dyes or make-up in colours that wouldn’t suit me. I already feel crazy enough so I don’t want to start looking like it too!

The clearance area on this occasion was on the way to the tills – so as I was passing anyway, I thought it rude not to take a moment and look.

As I was scanning the shelves, something caught my eye… I don’t think I can really convey in this post the excitement I felt when I came across them. It was an incredible moment in my bargain hunting history! ‘But what is it!?’ I’m sure you’re wondering. Well. I came across some Dreamland heated fleecy under-blankets. I appreciate that they doesn’t sound very exciting, and maybe some people think heated blankets should be reserved for the elderly. But this really isn’t the case.
